About Marysol
My name is Dayhanna I am originally Colombian but have been moving around my whole life. I currently live in Orlando with my husband and my two dogs.
A few years ago my weight was my obsession. I spent hours at the gym every day ( and sometimes night). Planned my meals and lived in a constant battle between diets and starvation. I had dreams of being a model and went to crazy lengths to achieve what I believed was the “perfect body”. This never happened because regardless of how thin I was I never seemed to be happy with myself.
My obsession caught up with my health as well as my personal life and my desire to become thin ended up making me sick. Eventually I got tired of being sick, I got tired of running from food, from TV commercials, from restaurants, and mostly I got tired of being alone.
I once was a fairly popular girl, with a great group of friends and a family that was always there, but I neglected them until they stopped calling. Neglected them until I was alone with my disease AND my pain. This drove me to want to figure out a system or at least a way of living that allowed me to stay in shape and good health in the real world.
I want to show everyone out there that it is possible to be fit and still have a social life. This site isn’t about perfect diets preparing for competitions or trying to find a quick fix. I’m not a fitness evangelist and I will not preach perfection because NOBODY IS PERFECT. I will go out and have too many drinks, or eat “bad” foods but I just get up the next day and get back on track.
With that being said I want to take a realistic approach to health and fitness and hopefully help you find a balance so that you can live a healthier, more rewarding life.
I can’t wait to meet you all…
Love,
Dayhanna
For me the best memories in life have always revolved around a feast of simple and delicious food. As a little girl, I carefully observed my grandmother as she crafted detailed sugar roses for the cakes that she baked for all the special occasions.
Later on in life, as I grew tall enough to reach the stove, I learned all the tricks and tips for the perfect Mexican rice and the zesty salsas that were ever so common in our Mexican home. But that wasn’t enough for me. I needed more adventures through the exotic flavors of the world. And so I began to search for more recipes that kept transporting me farther and farther away from our kitchen in El Paso, Texas.
This is how my journey to become a chef began. Along the way I discovered that the first step to a beautiful meal was to use honest, fresh, and natural ingredients and of course lots of love. Eating with balance and moderation has helped me live a healthful life without resorting to fad diets and starvation. It has also given me boundless energy so I can do the things I enjoy like running and working out.
Food is not an inconvenience that can be taken care of at the drive thru, or the frozen food aisle of your supermarket. Food is what nourishes your body so that you can go out and live your life to the fullest. Food is Earth’s gift to us, that is why my philosophy is to always eat mindfully and with care.
I hope to share all my tips and tricks with everyone who is looking to embark in the adventures that healthful and honest food has to offer!
Love always,
Marysol
