Are You Lost

Sometimes in life it’s easy to just quit when we come across obstacles. Things that make us uncomfortable and force us to face our weaknesses head on. Sometimes, we hold on to the things and relationships in our life not because we want them, but because we’re terrified of change. We’re scared of changing our careers, terrified of being left alone; living with circumstances we can’t stand because the unknown seems like a dangerous road we’re scared to take.

Have you ever felt this way? You know that …anxiety? The uncontrollable feeling that makes you feel like you’re wasting your life away? The urge to do something great with your life; followed by the feeling that you’re just not good enough to pursue that dream?

Have you ever taken a moment to think how ignoring those feelings might be affecting you? Maybe you find yourself getting angrier than usual, having less patience with your family. Running to the kitchen more often than you should; feeling a void inside of you and hoping that food will help you fill it.

ARE YOU LOST?

Did you ever sit to talk with a child? Taken a moment to realize their incredible wonder for everything around them? Listened to their dreams, their goals?

Kids have the incredible luck of believing in the impossible. And why shouldn’t they? Everything we see around us today was once a product of someone’s imagination. The computer I’m using to write this post. The microwave that’s heating up the tea I’m about to drink. Those things were once thought as impossible inventions and today they make a part of our daily life.

Why am I telling you this?

Because I feel like a lot of times we listen to society more than we listen to ourselves. We live our lives based on the values that society has established for us, and we forget that we’re free thinking beings who are capable of defying the rules and pushing past barriers. I mean seriously, at what point in our development do we stop listening to that kid inside of us? When did we start setting so many limits, creating so many excuses and boundaries for the way we should lead our life.

I’m writing this today because I feel like we all have a purpose. If you’re feeling lost, anxious and you’ve lost sight of who you are. You can take control. Living a life without purpose has no meaning. STOP. Take the time to listen to the kid inside and follow your dreams. Develop a plan and follow through with it. Your life shouldn’t be a story of what society wanted you to be. Write your own book. Take control of your own behaviors and leave a legacy that you can be proud of someday. Life’s too short to be wasted trying to please others.  You’re capable of greatness. Don’t ever settle for being mediocre.

With Love,

Dayhanna
